Already established in 1922 means Wallmann & Co. can count on the experience of more than one century and still today utilises this continuity and the strength of a permanently owner-managed business. The start was made by the eponym Otto Wallmann and his two companions Wilhelm Suhl and Albert Schmidt – at that time as Hamburg Port shipping and forwarding agents in the city centre and a branch office opened at the same time in Berlin. Besides the classical forwarding with trucks the business also included the import and export of big parcels of sugar, cereals and foodstuffs.
The founding of the Motorschiff Gesellschaft in 1929 meant that the "Wallmen" were able to start successfully the inland water transportation business which operated until 1987.
